Phenomenal, like all the Met productions. I go to NYC on business every once in a while and I always try to squeeze in an evening at the Met (or two if I can!). Given the family budget, I always sit in the 4th balcony (Family Circle), and I enjoy every second of the show. But in the past couple of weeks, I had my first instance of doing in the same week, both a live at the Met show (The Barber of Seville; in the Family Circle) and a live in HD at my local movie theater (Anna Bolena). I'm afraid I have to say that the "in person" live performance is at losing end of the comparison. I never thought I'd say this!
Go see these! Fill your ears of awesome singing; fill your eyes with spectacular productions; fill your heart with intense emotions; fill your life with great art. This was the first of eleven Met productions live in HD this season. I plan to go see them all.

Since I had never seen this opera performed before, I was unsure what to expect. After seeing it, I am convinced that it is one of the best operas I have ever seen. The music, unsual for opera because of it's emphasis on vocals and music rather than sets, costumes, choreography, etc. made this a truly special experience. I have since learned this opera is what is known as a "concert opera", an apt description. The music was superb, memorable and contemporary. The performances were outstanding. I can understand why the singing roles are so demanding and why, like Wagnerian operas, this opera requires a very special voice to perform this opera succesfully. I plan to buy the recently released Met DVD of this opera. Any lover of opera MUST experience Anna Bolena. Thank you for the Met HD opportunity! Please continue this program. It is wonderful to be able to experience the Met Opera and have a chance to share it with friends and to use this familiar venue to introduce opera to others

The 4 hours blazed by with crackling action from start to finish. Anna Netrebeko is a true diva for our time. Anna and Ekaterina Gubanova together in Act II were phenomenal.
