What a great cast! Lots of fun. This is my favorite Verdi opera which I've seen several times at Lyric Opera of Chicago. But the opera translated very well onto the HD screen. Great!!

Opera has always been a mixed pleasure-very expensive to attend and unless one had top-notch seats it really was hard to enjoy.
These Met HD broadcasts are amazing and worth every penny. You can see and hear everything, they have great translations, great behind the scenes footage and interviews and spectacular staging, singing and sets.
Really makes opera fun and affordable.

Beautifully done. An absolutely superb soprano, Liudmyla Monastyrska. It has been a long time since I have heard such a devine voice. I went to the Live in HD performance yesterday - I wll go again when it repeats. And, the pair with Olga Borodina kept up the interest throughout the entire opera.
Mr. Alagna is a very good tenor, oh well.

After being nudged by a friend to attend Aida, I did so. Oh my gosh! I've since thanked him profusely. This was a wonderful experience, both in the visual presentation and the musical production. Such voices are surely difficult to match. Not anticipating the subtitles provided, I was thrilled to find them as they made the actions on stage so clear and meaningful. Obviously, I'm not qualified to make comparisons as this was my first operatic experience. I do know that it won't be my last.

This was arguably the best performance of "Aida" I've seen! The new soprano, whose name I can't remember, is probably the best new Aida in many years. The whole performance was spectacular, with only Robert Alagna as a weak link. The sets were, as usual, magnificent, and the conducting of Fabio Luisi finally gave me a chance to approve of his work. On the whole I'd say it was definitely worth seeing and, hopefully, owning.
