    ANOTHER great HD Opera

This Aida was a triumphant and bold staging of a classic opera. Over the years, I have come to expect lavish set and costumes and voices that you just can't find anywhere else. This production of AIDA has all of that and more! The best surprise was the acting abilities of Dolora Azjick. The way she acts as well as sings made this Aida well worth attending. She is a woman in love, she is a woman scorned. She loves Radames, but she is exasperated by him. The camera managed to find all those little acting moments and bring them home. Violeta Urmana was a stunning Aida, torn between love for her homeland and father, and love for the warrior Rademes. Stefan Kocan did a great job of nailing the part of the King. The choreography of the dancing parts was spectacular. I look forward to seeing more of Alexei Ratmansky's work. I enjoyed sitting in the theater, being transported to ancient Egypt, all the while munching popcorn and surrounded by fellow opera buffs.
