Being a fan of western movies and seeing the trailer I was skeptical going in to see this movie. I've seen all the "Big" movies this summer and this movie has it all. Comedy, Action (plenty of that), and somewhat historical accuracy concerning the way the Indians where treated during the railroad expansion. The reality is that they where treated far worse than what this movie shows. This movie lays the groundwork for future Lone Ranger movies telling the back story of both of the main characters explaining how each came to be who he was. Also the original Lone Ranger music score is in it. (If you've never heard it, go on YT and listen). I'll definitely be going to see this again this weekend.
Depending on what you allow your kids to see its good 10+ age wise with most of the violence at Pirates of the Caribbean scale.
Nothing after the credits so don't waste your time.
P.S. Don't pay attention to the critic's.

The Lone Ranger is a thoroughly modern take on a classic western. The cinematography is excellent and does a great job of capturing the natural beauty of the settings.
While not an exceptional movie, The Lone Ranger is a fun watch. The critics were overly harsh on this one. Depp and Silver steal the show. Armie fills out his role nicely.
The plot of this movie is very predictable. There is also a lot of violence and death (keep that in mind if you plan on bringing younger kids). The biggest issue has to do with how the races are presented. The blacks are servants, the Chinese are exploited, and the movie plays on the plight of the "Indians." There isn't much love for the "white man" in The Lone Ranger.
All in all, The Lone Ranger does an old franchise justice.
There's a scene towards the end of the credits of Tonto walking through the desert that isn't worth sticking around for.
If you like my reviews, add me as a fan. I'll add you back!

I read a few reviews from Critics and decided to go see The Lone Ranger anyway. This was a great decision... this film didn't disappoint me. Every part was perfectly cast. Armie Hammer impressed me by managing NOT to be overshadowed by Johnny Depp. His Lone Ranger's journey from idealist to realist without losing his good hearted optimism was one of the best things about the movie. And Johnny Depp's Tonto was dignified, funny and tragic. Seeing these two men slowly become friends and partners is what gives this movie so much heart. I thought the framing device (Tonto telling the story to the kid in 1933) was brilliant. The music was perfect... my dad had recordings of the Lone Ranger radio serials from his childhood in the 1930s and I grew up listening to those with him. In this film, when the Lone Ranger gallops off on Silver to the William Tell Overture, it brought tears to my eyes.

Although there are shortcomings with this movie, they do not take away from the entertainment value. For two-and-a-half hours, we are taken to a place in the Wild West as we envisioned it as children. There is no vulgarity, little gore, and plenty of laughs. The Lone Ranger probably fails to reach the lofty standards that people had set for it, but will surpass your expectation in raw entertainment, and maybe remind you why you enjoy going to the movies.

After all the negative reviews, that this movie would be so GREAT! Another reason to watch a movie and judge for yourself. Full of Action, Humor, and Great Acting as one would expect of Johnny Depp. Only complaints I have it was about 25 minutes to long, a little editing from this 150 minute movie would have made this movie that much better. another grip I have if you are bringing children ( even though i dont mind shooting and other kinds of violence, after all what's a western movie without it right? It was a little to much for Disney Movie but then again times are changing and maybe Disney realizing this. So if you have children that doesn't like shootings and coughing up blood and yeah even head sculpting, then i highly Recommend watching Monster University. Disney Lone Ranger is full of fun Great Entertaining popcorn movie. I'm looking forward to watching it again with my friends Saturday.
