I will go ahead and assume that I am not the only one who thought: who owed Armie Hammer a favor and put him in this movie? He has no charisma and isn't funny. His acting was stiff and not engaging at all. Johnny Depp wasn't all that, either, but without him I would have walked out after the first hour. The story was lame, and I just hope that they don't make a sequel. It is also very long, so I can't see kids sitting through the whole disaster.
The end was the best part of the movie, but in this case quite literally the end did NOT justify the means.

This movie was more than awful. The Lone Ranger was a consistently bumbling boob, more Dudley Do-Right than Lone Ranger. Johnny Depp's Tonto mimicked the voice of Jay Silverheels ( the original Tonto on the TV series), but remade into Jack Sparrow wearing the Sparrow on his head. Even Silver was reduced to a standing joke.
I can't understand why they made this movie. It was too long by almost 45 minutes. An 8, 40, and 65 year old in our group all thought it was bad. Even the anachronisms were absurd... the playing by a band of the Stars and Strips Forever theoretically in 1869 when the song was written in the 1890s and the Star Spangled Banner when it didn't become the National Anthem until 1916.
It's like these guys didn't care about their product. Don't believe the positive reviews. These are just shills for the movie company. Pure Stinko !!!

I almost didn't go because of the movie review in the Boston Globe , but my son wanted to see it and we got a 2 for 1 deal so I said ok. If you grew up in the 50s -60s you might like it too! it was hilarious!! I like Johnny Depp and he totally becomes TONTO. It's not a great literary film but just a fun summer movie. It was definitely better than I expected.

If you liked the first Pirates movie you'll like this. Not for kiddies as it has quite a bit of killing but typical irreverent humor, lots of action. Fun.

Long. Inacuarate. The raiilroad came no where close to texas. As a Utahan I don/t apprreciate Promontary Point being moved to Texas! The tie to the reincarnated Tonto never made any sense and did not lead anywhere. Too bloody and gross (peeing in the bucket). Not logical. How did they get from the race of the trains to the bottom of the tower to set off the explosives?
The only redeeming place whas when the William Tell Oveture started and the action began.
