The "wraparound" story detracted from the film, and the movie itself had enough cheese to supply Taco Bell for a month, but neither of these things were enough to wreck the high entertainment value of the film. Lots of action and comedy. And the climactic scene with the Lone Ranger theme was chock full of classic high-adventure antics we've come to expect from Bruckheimer.

This movie was pure entertainment. I agree with other reviews that it was a bit too Disney. That said: Johnny Depp was right on mark with his typical quirky characterization. Great special effects with the horse Silver. Awesome villain. And Armie was very well suited as the reluctant hero. While there was much action - a few places did drag. Do go see this and ignore the professional critics.

We really enjoyed this movie. It was funny and creative. The one liners were making everyone laugh out loud. It is lighthearted and takes you away from the everyday realities of our world. With all of the bad news we hear everyday, it's nice to be able to watch a movie that is just meant to entertain. I don't which character was funnier - Tonto or Silver. LOL. It is very different from the original "Lone Ranger", but when you realize that it is not meant to be, that it is just for fun, sit back, enjoy it, and have a good laugh..

I am of the generation that watched the original TV series. I have a deep fondness for this character. It meant a lot to my developement as a child. DEPP made a parody of the character, much as Austin Powers vs James Bond. I hope Disney goes bankrupt from this cartoon. Horses running across the tops of moving trains. It was fitting that they had a scene where the Lone Ranger had his head dragged thru a pile of horse manure. They dragged the audience thru that same pile
