Violence with tiny toys is still violence

I waited a long time to take my autistic song to the movies, he enjoys the Play Station Lego games so I thought he would like this. I showed him the trailer and he gave it the nod of approval. However, it was too intense for him and he asked to leave within a half hour. I teach young children and I was surprised how violent this movie was. Violence is still violence no matter how tiny the toys are. The evil implied and the intensity if the action in terms of the violence is a real concern in regards to the impact it has on young growing minds. No surprise that we wonder where the increase in violence comes from in our society, and that children are shooting each other? This movie was full of destruction and shooting, repeatedly. I was truly disappointed. Why can't a creative, innovative movie be made without this level of destruction and mayhem? This is not imagination, this is a commercial bailout. Thumbs down to Warner brothers and Legos.

Lego was a let down

I didn't find this to be entertaining at all. The few incidents of humor were overshadowed by a tired storyline with visuals to make anyone with ADHD a happy camper. The production seemed to be a mix of stop motion and CGI throughout with a touch of live action at the end. The film seemed more like a catalog of encapsulated Marvel/WB/Disney franchises aimed at youngsters and their parents for a payoff at the big box toy store.

Children rarely laugh or shown amazement, Very violent

The children did not laugh or shown amazement while watching the movie at the 1:30 session at a Manhattan theater, on Sun. Feb 9. I would not recommend the movie for 8 year-old children or younger. The two main characters face armed villains, explosions and near death situations, in a fast paced narrative with frequent insertions of different Lego themes. Te movie's good central idea that "children should be free to play Lego freely" is sadly overshadowed by the use of extreme viollence to achieve that goal. Other negative, is that a lot of jokes are aimed at adults.

My review will be short, because this movie was superlative. Do you know how a good Bugs Bunny cartoon is funny on three different layers? Young kids, Teens, and Adults all dig it. This movie has appeal across the spectrum, and is just masterful. Good work, Jump Street crew.

The LEGO movie was a total sucess in my opinion. This movie had drama, action and good comedy, also the cameos were nice to see. The directing was top-notch and the cinematography was fascinating to watch. All the actors did a great job with the voice work and the big twist towards the end of the movie was original and fresh. I totally recommend this movie to all moviegoers.
