My nephew and I, both Lego fans, went to this movie and were amazed with the production! Lots of humor, great visuals, ya gotta love Will Ferrell, and it certainly appeals to everyone.
The message at the end was magnificent!

Way too much going on all at once. The graphics & special effects are amazing but all the colors & movement are a bit too much of a good thing.
The live character part at the end was sweet. Would have been nice to introduce that part earlier & work it into the story line.

I must confess that I was not expecting to be blown away by an animated movie, but that's exactly what "The Lego Movie" did to me. I cannot predict what other cinematic releases will play out this year, but if I had a vote for Oscar nominations, this film would get one and not just for animated movie.
Its message is heartfelt, its action is well-coordinated, and its characters are fully developed. Children as well as adults will appreciate each aspect; adults picking up on the subtleties of language and children learning a few new (appropriate) adult words.
The music, animation, editing, and cinematography each grabbed my attention at different points but did not detract from the overall experience.
Sure, its plot is a not original although there are enough twists to give it new life; its message not particularly bold even if it is blatantly broadcast; and its symbolism unremarkable but completely appropriate. Yet this film earned my applause as it ended.

It is a great movie for the kids and lots of fun for the adults. It is a movie for any age and is a wonderfully visually stunning attraction!

At first I was wow, this is really awful. But it all came together, and I actually really enjoyed taking my two boys aged 6 & 7. Monumental Americana but somewhat enjoyable by the end, and the "Every thing is Awesome" soundtrack will be the latest brain worm, like it or not.
