Nerd out and have a blast!

This film wonderfully makes fun of everything and everyone equally. You laugh at, cheer with, and root for. What I loved the most is that I expected to simply see a good documentary, and I did, but I was sincerely consumed by the plight of our hero.

Go sucka! Jump that friggen barrel! Take it HOME!

    A great study in obsession.

So real! So American! Tons of Fun.

We loved this adorable true life--about people you (almost) know--documentary. A convincing giant step into the real America. Delightful!

    Best Documentary/Comedy ever

     by  DavidBroek_movie_master

If you like good stories, movies, video games or just having a good time then I plor you to see this movie. I saw it at the Newport Beach Film Festival on it's first showing, and the audience couldn't get enough cheering, applauding and laughing throughout the movie. Steve Wiebe is the man of men, and Billy Mitchell is scum.

P.S. Michael Bay and Steve Mason are trash and ruin movies and life in general.

    Kill Screen

If you're interested there is a potential Donkey Kong kill screen coming up.

    Shocking

I was amazed at how much I cared about the outcome of this movie, considering I have no interest in video games whatsoever. The documentary became less about who would win, and more about a battle between good and evil. It was fascinating! No matter who you are, this movie will stike a chord with you.

Best documentary in a longg time

The battle between rival champions for the Donkey Kong arcade game top score is the basis of the story here, but even those unfamiliar with video games will find the human dynamics here fascinating. One of the best films I've seen this year.

    Unforgettable

     by  IrvThal

There's no possible way Hollywood could make anything this good, this unbelievably compelling, this boldly manipulative. Here's a movie that literally has the audience bursting into spontaneous applause at its climax -- a documentary that is more riveting, more pure fun, than any "mainstream" movie I've seen in months. "The King of Kong" isn't just a rare gem, it's an entertaining, strangely thought-provoking and indescribably fun time at the movies.

This is what independent film is all about!

     by  Whammo

This movie is a perfect example of why I love independent films. Real people, being themselves. You would not buy these characters as believeable if this were a scripted movie, because these people are so over the top in real life. There are tons of laughs in this movie, largely based on the fact that the lead players are such weenies. Billy Mitchell clearly thinks he is Chuck Norris. Brilliantly edited too.

    A good old-fashioned showdown :-D

     by  hiryu87

Without a doubt one of the best movies I've seen all year. A true example of truth being stranger, and much more interesting, than fiction. While the movie revolves around early video game culture, icons and players it is really a very human story about the two protagonists and you really couldn't have asked for a more diametrically opposed pair. You quickly forget about the "video game" aspect of the film and quickly become caught up in the personal stories of those involved. Gamers may get a little more out of it due to the environment and references, but I can confidently say that this would be a highly enjoyable film for anyone, even if they've never touched a video game in their life.

In a nutshell, you must see it. Highly recommended!

    Great Documentary! Must see!

     by  Boston1

I loved this movie. It's a documentary, but the characters are so amazing it's hard to believe it's true. But they are. Who knew that this segment of culture existed, beating world records on old video games. You can imagine the kinds of people who do this, and some are real geeks. But a loveable family guy like Steve versus a sleazeball like Billy make for an unusual combo of good vs. evil. I say must go, it's that good.
