THE INNOCENTS = Great Vintage Ghost Story

If you are looking for a terrific subliminal scare, conjure up a copy of Michael Clayton's wonderfully creepy supernatural chiller THE INNOCENTS which is based on Henry James' classic novella "The Turn of the Screw". Deborah Kerr stars as the introverted governess hired on to take care of two orphans at a remote, gloomy estate. Quickly she comes to believe the children are being posessed by spirits of the late caretakers. Or are they??? This is what makes thiis film so wonderful as you can watch it many times over and always come to a different conclusion. Is it really happening or is the poor woman just a bit derranged. Very chilling atmosphere and genuinely eerie scares pop up in the most sedate and bizzare ways. A true original that obviously influenced other films like THE HAUNTING and more recently THE OTHERS and THE ORPHANAGE as the director wants you to see and hear and experience much more than you actually do!!
