With an excellent cast, I went in with high expectations and left with a mixed bag of sentiments. Overall, the movie is OK, not the best but not the worst. The story setting and characters pull upon every segment of magicians and show business by executing parodies of some of the most popular magic acts of our times. From Siegfried and Roy, David Copperfield, Cris Angel, and David Blain.
However where it misses for me, though I admit I found some moments funny, is the bit of awkwardness, jokes that came off a bit more tasteless than funny, and the absurd moments were more disturbing than absurd, though some moments do have their moments.
The story's plot carries the movie and the plot twists are good as the character conflicts quickly wrap the story up in a redeemable manner.

Really the 4 other people in the theatre didn't get the memo either about how bad this movie is and a few chuckles but nothing to laugh at except that I actually sat through the whole move expecting something good to see.
Yes the very large theatre was empty.

I'm not a Steve Carell fan, and this movie did nothing to make me feel otherwise. It was a tired and depressing story, and that led to an implausible ending. Jim Carrey and Olivia Wilde (formerly in the House series) had decent performances, but they couldn't make up for a bad plot and two unconvincing lead actors (Carell and Buscemi). Save your money for a movie that instead will star Carrey and Wilde.

This movie was distasteful and hard to watch. A lot of gruesome tricks that aren't related to magic in any way. Just bad. I want my money back.
