I had high expectations and even though Ewan McGregor and Naomi Watts made a great screen couple the movie plays with the line of boredom and emotionality that makes the amazing scenes leave from your liking.

Hard to watch, especially with the acknowledgement that this tidal wave was very, very real and killed 250,000. That said, the acting was first rate and the story inspiring. Will definitely leave a mark.

Tragic story- but important depiction of what a family experienced. Naomi's performance is amazing. Direction/screenplay & the reenactment of the tsunami is terrifying to watch, but the best of all that has been produced.
Ewan McGregor never fails to bring his best and the kids in this movie are completely amazing little actors. This movie is exhausting to watch, but should not be missed. This is one film that you should see in the theatre! Don't wait for it to be release to DVD/Cable.
The special effects are amazing. I can't imagine how difficult it was to film.
I hope that Naomi and the young cast receive special recognition for their hard work to shoot this film.

In the end it's a feel-good movie. Interesting that the trailer didn't try to hide the facts about this movie - who dies, who lives, does the family all survive thing. And I kind of like that. You know you're going to see an experience and a lot of drama, and that's ok.
Naomi Watts is incredible as the mom of this inspiring family, the physical pain and trials she goes through will make you wince and cheer for her at the same time.
The kids are precious, make you smile, and wonder at how fast some children have to grow up in sometimes just a matter of days.
Ewan McGregor, as usual, delivers a good performance as the father who'll stop at nothing to reunite his family.
The other families and people encountered along the way are fascinating, I found myself thinking about these characters/people even hours after the movie ended.
Go see this film!

Like any true story movie it is sometimes hard to think that the events in the movie actually happened and in this case so many lives were lost. Ewan McGregor and Naomi Watts wonderfully brought to screen the real life couple who with their young boys experienced one of the worst natural catastrophes of our time. The directing, acting and scenes and recreations are wonderfully and heart wretchingly done. You should have tissues if you are the type who cries in good and bad moments. It is a wonderful film of a sad and true account of one family's vacation that will never be forgotten, by anyone.
