Slow burn, hard-hitting.

No one holds silence like Mikkelsen, and this story of how a small town - and a long-held friendship - turns against a man wrongly accused of child molestation is a quiet maelstrom of emotions that builds and builds. Beautifully acted and shot.

I love this film and have seen it twice. If you need a break from the loud, special-effects-filled, big budget duds that have been released this summer, this deeply absorbing movie is for you. It grips you from the start and never lets go. Mads Mikkelsen stars. Best known to American audiences as “Hannibal” on the TV series, he has been a major star in Europe for years, and how lucky we are to finally have him. He plays Lucas, a man wrongfully accused of sexually assaulting a small child. He is the victim of vicious lies that snowball out of control. Although Mads Mikkelsen’s role on “Hannibal” is striking, it gives us a limited view of his acting abilities. But there is nothing this actor cannot do. I know, because after seeing “The Hunt,” I rented or bought about 8 of his films, and I would recommend that you do the same. I haven’t been this impressed with an actor in about 10 years. No, make that 20. He deserves an Oscar, and I hope this film gets the attention it deserves.

Thomas Vinterberg- This film dredges up the "other side" of sexual abuse accusations, a much needed discourse that we all choose to ignore. This is what can happen when our rampant paranoia that every man over the age of 15 is a pedophile. How many innocent men have paid a price, but committed no crime? GETHTEBONESAW.BLOGSPOT.COM

It was a tense, heart-wrenching, brilliant movie. Madds Mikkelson is not capable of dishonesty on the screen. The young girl who plays Klara is pitch perfect. A movie to envy.

I enjoyed it even though it was probably a little drawn out and longer than it needed to be.
