Hunger Games

The movie was really good. It followed the books for the most part. When the movie did deivate from the book it was applicable and did not drastically alter the plot. I could see where someone who did not read the books might be a little confused. Overall, definitely worth seeing.

True to the book

The entire plot seemed like it stuck pretty true to the book. Acting was great all around, and the movie hit all of the emotional highs and lows of the book. My only complaints are: 1)What's with the shaking camera? I know you're trying to make it looks like a live action film/documentary, but at times I felt like I was watching the movie on a roller coaster. It's hard to see what everyone is doing when the camera is bouncing around like a 12 year old who's off their ritalin. 2) Woody Harrelson's portrayal of Haymitch didn't seem surly and/or drunk enough. This is a very weak complaint in an otherwise stellar movie. Overall, this is definitely the best movie that I've seen since Harry Potter ended. I actually think that I was drawn into this movie more than I was in any of the Harry Potter series.

Worth the wait!!

I used a vacation day to see this on Friday's release day at a matinee showing. Well worth it! I loved the books, and this movie stayed pretty true to the first book. Even if one hadn't read the books, this would be an enjoyable movie. For those who read the books, you have all the insight there just isn't time for in a movie. Saw it in IMAX, so much up close action, might have been better on a regular screen or a few more rows back. Weren't many seats left when we got there though. I thought the actors picked for this movie were superb! They couldn't have cast this any better. I did hear a few parents gasp during the movie, seriously, if you didn't read the books, did you at least hear what the movie was about?? This isn't a children's movie. And if your young teen hasn't read the book, perhaps they should before seeing the movie. If they can't handle the book, then just skip the movie until they are a bit older.

This movie went above and beyond all my expectations in the best possible way! The casting and the acting were both surprisingly fantastic. The cinematography was beautiful. And most importantly, it was true to the amazing book from which it was adapted. Two thumbs way up!!

LOVED IT! Fans of the book will be very satisfied with this adaptation. Amazing job by Gary Ross bringing the visions in the book onto the screen. No need to have read the book to enjoy - but if you haven't read the book -You should!!! Superb acting - FAR better than Twilight and even Harry Potter. Violence was toned down, but still pretty intense for tweens (took my 11 year old, who read all the books).
