Best book-to-movie I've ever seen

Bravo to the directors and producers. As a big fan of the books, I was not disappointed. This was an amazing adaptation. There were a few things missing, but nothing that made me upset or annoyed. Things that were missing were not missed, if that makes sense. Jennifer Lawrence is nearly perfect as Katniss, and Josh Hutcherson makes a great Peeta. I also like the additions that were made to the movie. Watching the interactions between Seneca Crane and President Snow actually added to the story. I liked seeing the background and the end will really help play up what happens in the second book during... well, here there are spoilers, so I'll leave it hanging for those who have not yet read it. In summary, GO SEE IT. Yesterday.

Hunger Games

Unfortunately we arrived to find only seats available in second row! Sound track is overwhelming.....I already wear hearing aids, and had to turn them way down......my husband took his off! Movie overall follows book, but WHY games were held is not explained well at al in the moviel...read the book, which is very well written. Leading character well cast.....her partner should have at least been taller. However, very enjoyable movie. I did not see any real advantage to IMAX...perhaps sitting in back would have been better effect.

The Hunger Games

Even though I'm not the target audience (okay, I'm 64) I loved the books and couldn't wait for the movie. My movie test is normally "Am I glad it's over, or do I want it to keep going." At The Hunger Games: The IMAX Experience, I wanted it to go right on to the other two books. Either that or let me see it again. I was really excited to go, and the experienc exceeded my expectations. Technically, the IMAX quality was unbelievably great and the audio knocked my socks off. Of course, after the movie my wife and I discussed some details that were left out. But, unless they made an 8-hour movie, somethings had to go. They were true to the book and did a fantastic job of conveying they horrors without moving to an "R" rating. WE LOVED IT. The only thing that I really missed, and I checked the book afterword, is that they didn't cover the big change in Katniss and Peeta's relationship right at the end of the book. I suppose they want to do it at the start of Book 2.

No Hunger in the Hunger Games - A Bad Film

Hunger is the whole point of the book. The hunger of the capital for more the hunger of the people for food. The hunger for bloodsport. Yet this movie has none of this. The movie looks like a cheap sci fi channel rip off. The director and cinematographer should be fired. Too many keys details missing. Katniss looks to well fed and clean. What a huge disappointment. I enjoyed the books but this is not even in the same league. Jennifer Lawrence can act and is the only bring spot in this horrifically directed film and wasted screenplay.

Don't Wait!

Since it's only available in IMAX for a week, I decided to see it ASAP instead of waiting for my friends to figure out their schedules. Even though it was the first movie I'd seen on my own, it was SO WORTH IT! Pretty much as true to the book as a movie can get, but I was still on the edge of my seat the entire time.
