This was not as good as the first one -not by a long shot. The acting and production value were great, as usual, but the action and the plot seemed to disconnect with each other and the audience. Okay, most of the actual audience was mindless fan girls who were going to love it no matter what - but on a "real" audience... Some scenes were pointless, others crammed too much information/exposition into a small space. It just seemed that the filmmakers took exactly what was in the book and filmed it, making no effort to translate the structure or perspective for a movie audience instead of a reader. It was a big let down from the first one, but not a terrible movie. Except the ending. That was dumb.

Not much should be expected from this latest installment of "The Hunger Games" since the so called "novels" from which it is derived are mainly designed for the brain dead illiterates who wouldn't know real literature if it bit them in the head. But this film, which is at least an hour too long for its meager subject matter, is an insult to even its target audience, a convoluted, poorly photographed, badly acted mess. As for the author Suzanne Collins' so-called unique vision of a futuristic society, pardon me if I find it impossible to believe that regular folks will allow themselves to become cattle living in communes while those in power with all the education and wealth choose to live their lives living in replicas of a Miami Beach Hotel wearing Elton John's discarded wardrobe.

I loved the movie. I liked that they didn't just reuse the same fighting scenes from the first one. I love that they kept all of the original actors, they ruin movies when they change cast members part way through. The actors all did a wonderful job of bringing their characters to life. I think you should use discretion taking children under 12-13 yrs of age, due to some mild violent scenes.

Again, a true adaptation of the story--go, go go! It delves into life in Sector 12, and the relationship between Katniss, Gale and Petar. Thoroughly enjoyable!

Even if you haven't read the books, this is a great movie. Both my husband and I absolutely loved it. My husband was so mad about having to wait another year to get the next movie when we left, even though I told him this was not the end! Although it is long, it doesn't feel like it in the movie. Lead actress is just incredible. Great acting, great story, great effects. Go see this movie - in the theaters! You won't be disappointed.
