'Catching Fire' Courts Mia Wasikowska, Zoe Aggeliki for Johanna Mason Role

It wouldn't be a week of movie blogging without some sort of Hunger Games sequel news. The Playlist is reporting that Mia Wasikowska and model Zoe Aggeliki are in consideration for the role of Johanna Mason for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

Mason, who hails from District 7, becomes a strong ally to Katniss and Peeta during the 75th Hunger Games. Director Francis Lawrence is keen on finding the right actress for the role and is considering both established actors as well as a lesser known talents.

Aggeliki certainly falls into that lesser known talents field, for now. She has a small role in this October's comedy Fun Size and she'll also appear in R.I.P.D. next summer opposite Ryan Reynolds, Jeff Bridges and Kevin Bacon. Aggeliki also just recently landed a role in Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters. She'll play Silena Beauregard in that film.

Wasikowska we know from her previous work in films like Alice in Wonderland, Jane Eyre, The Kids Are All Right, Albert Nobbs and her breakthrough role in Defiance.

We know how ultimately futile all the speculation surrounding who was going to play Finnick Odair was. Names ranging from Robert Pattinson and Taylor Kitsch to Armie Hammer and others were thrown out there will all those mentioned saying they were not playing the role. The final nail in the Odair casting coffin came from producer Nina Jacobsen who said casting hadn't progressed that far.

So how much can we buy into this latest round of speculating? Neither Lionsgate, Lawrence or any of the producers on the film have made an official announcement, but production does begin in a few months. Aside from Odair, casting Mason is one of the big casting additions the franchise will make.

Do you like Wasikowska or Aggeliki for the role or do you prefer another actress?

Mia is a great actress....but not for Johanna. Johanna I think would be best being played by an unknown who has an athletic build...maybe even a known athlete could play her. Though I can see Mia for Annie...definitely has the build for a district 4.

I vote for Mia out of the two. I think she could adapt to the part much more so than Zoe. She seems like she could be a good fit.

I think Mia would be good. As for the hair styles, its a movie and they can make the hair fit the part and as for the girliness, they are actresses and if they are good then they will be as rough and tough as they need to be for the part. I think Mia's face seems to fit my picture of Johanna.

Neither of them would be the proper choice. They are too girly for playing Johanna's role.

I'm not familiar with Mia Wasikowska, and it might just be this picture, but she actually looks very close to my idea of Johanna. Just the shape of her face or something. No idea how that'd translate on screen, but she gets my vote for now.

Anyone that has read the books will agree that these two actress are WRONG for the role of Johanna! This is not a good sign for the sequel. I'm not saying that movie should be 100% like the book, but at the same time the director should respect the source material. Here is a brief synopsis of what the character should look like: Johanna is described as having wide-set brown eyes. In Catching Fire, Johanna has spiky brown hair. In Mockingjay, she returns from the Capitol with a shaved head after being tortured by them but eventually grows pieces of her hair back, where the perspiration from her forehead made her hair form spikes. She is also very muscular and tan.

I don't know about either choices. I like Wasikowska and think she did a good job in movies like "Alice in Wonderland" and "The Kids are All RIght," but she seems so frail for this role. When I read "Catching Fire," I saw Johanna as a tough and strong girl both physically and mentally, since she hails from the lumber district and she lost the people she cared about. And a model would be rolling the dice a bit too much. I think they should keep looking for the right fit for the role because they aren't Johanna material for me.

Doesn't Wasikowska look like a good fit for Annie though.

Maybe. It is just that she doesn't look right for Johanna.

Definitely not right for Johanna. Lauren Cohan is my pick for Johanna.

Lately, whenever I think of a right fit for Johanna, for the life of me, I think of Michelle Rodriguez. Her roles in "Battle Los Angeles" and "Avatar" gave her something of a tough and battle tested demeanor. She looks like she can play Johanna.

While I think that Rodriguez has the right demeanor to play Johanna, I just think she looks a little too old for the role. Johanna is in her early 20s. I know they always use older actors to play younger characters but I don't think she can pull off that big of a gap.
