Close to the book, good movie

By particular

First of all, if you haven't read the book then you are probably going to see the movie because it based on a book by Stephanie Meyer, who also wrote the Twilight series...do not expect a story similar to Twilight. Even book readers had a hard time switching gears into something other than Twilight. This movie is more Sci-Fi, but still has the drama and love story. If you are a reader, this is a good read - you just have to not compare it to Twilight and have imagination. Admittedly, I do wonder if someone who hasn't read the book will fully understand the movie. If you have read the book, you will find that (like most movies made from books) they left some things out. There were some things that I wish they had put in (not going to spoil by giving examples). However, the movie is still good and well cast. The graphics and set designs are really good. Bottom line, I say GO!

Was an alright movie, but best seen at matinee price or DVD.

The movie was a decent adaptation of the book and did make me tear up at a few points, but just didn't feel fully fleshed out and realized. The actors were great, but the movie overall left we somewhat wanting for a more fleshed out and complete plot.

Not For Everyone. Great If You Like To Laugh. Uniquely Awful.

For most people, stifling laughter will be hard while watching this film. It's not a comedy though. Due to a most unique screenplay which uses voice over with actual dialog simultaneously while using the same character, frankly the effect is just plain comical in some places. So much so in fact that I witnessed at least three people leave the theater because they just couldn't stop laughing. I'll give the screenwriter credit for experimentation, that's for sure. The talent can only do what's on the page, so the end result really isn't their fault. Meyers has a rich imagination but the adaptation of this book is not deep or mildly enticing in this format. All-in-all this isn't a terrible movie, just not one that will appeal first, to any male audience (including the gay males) and second, to anyone whose funny bone is easily activated by debatably cheesy dialog over action over voice over dialog....on and on and on. See it though if for no other reason than its unique awfulness.

I personally liked this a lot

I liked this movie. I had a little bit of an idea about what it was gonna be about or like before i went to see it. I thought things started slow and kinda dragged along for the first little bit. Once I feel it picked up & I could see things coming tougher it became fun to watch. Not a scary alien movie, not a crazy action movie, just a good story movie that kinda go's along. I liked the acting and how everything was kinda matrix like and calm except a few parts. Seeing Saoirse Ronan in a lead role other than Hanna. Cant wait to see her in more movies. I liked the score, the settings, the vibe, the feeling, the message, & the coolness of the movie. I recommend it but, it's not gonna be for everyone. I hope you who see it enjoy it like i did.
