I read the book and was very excited to see the film. The book does not translate to the screen. It winds up being corney and many times I thought about walking out. Just skip it.

I was really rooting for this movie as I really enjoyed the book. I was hoping the author would write more because the book was left open ended. I really hope this movie does not squash that - I think it might sadly.
I went with a friend who had not read the book yet so it was interesting to get her take and she enjoyed the movie. There were pockets of teens that would squeal with laughter in some points and I found myself unfortunately chuckling at moments that there shouldn't be a chuckle.
There were some enjoyable relationships that understandably had to be removed from the book's story line to adapt it to the movie but I was disappointed that the relationship between Wanda & Ian was not believable.
There were quite a few leaps that were in the movie that were not very believable, especially for those who did not read the book. I did like the last 40 mins of the movie though and do hope SM will write another in this series. Sadly, this movie won't be around long.

This is one of the worst movies I have seen in years. There are terrible messages to teens: you kiss me, no you kiss me, now both of your kiss me; look at the sperm-things coming out of my neck. Stephanie Meyer wrote this as an adult novel, and I assume that the morons in Hollywood wanted to soak the youth market, so they turned the film into drivel. The pace is painful, there is no real action, and the deep Mormon roots of the author come through as they did in the Twilight movies and books. I would like to have my money back.

A decent movie to burn 2 hours in. Not a really fast paced movie and is completely different than the book. If you only like shoot-em-up's don't waste your time. If you enjoy a decent story, give it a shot.

This was a movie I enjoyed, one that told the story of The Host very creditably. I was impressed by the cast, particularly William Hurt, Frances Fisher and Saoirse Ronan. I loved the sets, especially their cave dwelling/hideout. I felt very satisfied with the movie...felt it was well edited, moved right along and did the story justice. I think people who read the book will enjoy the movie more than those who don't.
