Let down

I had high high hopes for this movie because it is one of my all time favorite books. I'm obsessed with it- read it like 5 times. The movie was just awful and I nearly left. Boring music, poor choices for actors and actresses (apart from the seeker), and overall just a bad film. It was trying to be the next teenie bopper twilight, but I even enjoy those movies more. It didnt even begin to develop the characters in a way that people can connect with and enjoy. Anyway, I was just let down that the butchered the movie of my favorite book.

No words.

I have no words for how horrifically bad this movie was. It had absolutely nothing to do with the book, the acting was terrible, the plot was out of order, and there were vital scenes missing. There were only two good scenes I can remember that were just like the book: the dead soul/ Wanda screaming scene and the "MONTHS LATER" epilogue. Don't waste your time. If you do, at least you'll get a good laugh.

See the Movie First

The problem with most movies adapted from books is that the movie can't possible include as much detail as the book. Therefore, those who read the book first are always sorely disappointed come movie time. I didn't read the book first, so I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. This story doesn't provide any explanations about how the aliens got here or how they managed to take over the earth. It also doesn't explain why some humans could survive implantation and others couldn't. But, it does do an excellent job of presenting another take on the idea of being "of two minds." And it places both familial love and romantic love on high pedestals. The actors are fun to watch, do a good job with their parts and are very likable. The story is well paced, humorous at times and makes sense! This is a feel good movie that also has plenty of action. There was only one part that made no sense at all to me, because the actions of the characters were guaranteed to lead to the result which occurred.

Best Movie Ever

Honestly I can say I haven't read the book yet, so I can't compare it to that, but the movie on it's own was amazing. I loved the intensity of the double person/double love and the suspense of the whole conflict it self. This is a great movie and I recommend it for everyone.

So sad to say it, but The Host sucked. Bad acting, completely flat emotions, weak action....It bummed me out since I did love the book and adore Saoirse Ronin. If you must see this movie, save your money and watch it on Netflix in a few months.
