There were so many bits missing, so many story lines cut out, so many things changed it wasn't close to its book, I know the writer did twilight too but this was clearly either a vehicle for its star or just trying to make money on the back of twilight, it failed at both.
It was so poorly acted the actors couldn't have mad it on daytime TV shows, it was a real shame. I rushed the book to get the best out of the movie and I wish I hadn't..i could have walked out and not cared if it got better but I stayed till the end of this sleep fest example of what not to do in a movie
I didn't care if Melanie ever came back out and as for jared and ian, only a mentally deranged girl would fall for either, they had no decernable character worth falling for, I expected the normal sorry to say chick flick of twilight but I got something youd wish someone had sunk their teeth into your neck and not brought you back...the book was good, the movie was sadly lacking in eve

I took a gaggle of giggle tweens to the premiere last night. That seems to be the demographic. The film itself is "meh" as a work of art. The scifi effects were surprisingly unimaginative. There was really no climax to the film, just lots of love triangle dabbling. I did not read the book, although my daughter loved it.
It is a pretty innocent film, although the previews that played before it were, in some cases, terrifying!
Thanks, Hollywood, for another try. This time it probably meets the mark for the maturing Beiber set. Only.

For a person who didn't read the book, I would rent this movie instead of going to see it in theaters. It's not something I would buy but, I would watch again with another friend. The timeline of the movie was different than I though it would which made it a little more intresting.

I read the book before I saw this move and I'm glas I did. I took a friend with me who hadn't read the book and she kept asking me what stuff meant. I suppose you would get that with any book that's been made into a movie, but I think you really should read the book before seeing THIS movie in particular. Some of the acting was just ok, but overall I think a very elaborate plot was portrayed very well on the screen. Lead actress Saoirse Ronan did a stunning job playing essentially two characters. Max Irons and Jake Abel were great as the lead love interest and you could just tell there was chemistry between these three. So bottom line, I would recommend this to someone who has already read the book, just because you would understand the plot better and see how close it is to the book. I don't expect this to be anything as big and the Twilight books/movies were, but its a nice follow up from Stephene Meyer.

2 hours and 5 minutes of my life, that I will never get back. Had this been made before Twilight, there would have been NO Twilight Franchise, at all! No further review required.
