I read the book and was very excited to see the film. The book does not translate to the screen. It winds up being corney and many times I thought about walking out. Just skip it.

This is one of the worst movies I have seen in years. There are terrible messages to teens: you kiss me, no you kiss me, now both of your kiss me; look at the sperm-things coming out of my neck. Stephanie Meyer wrote this as an adult novel, and I assume that the morons in Hollywood wanted to soak the youth market, so they turned the film into drivel. The pace is painful, there is no real action, and the deep Mormon roots of the author come through as they did in the Twilight movies and books. I would like to have my money back.

I had high high hopes for this movie because it is one of my all time favorite books. I'm obsessed with it- read it like 5 times. The movie was just awful and I nearly left. Boring music, poor choices for actors and actresses (apart from the seeker), and overall just a bad film. It was trying to be the next teenie bopper twilight, but I even enjoy those movies more. It didnt even begin to develop the characters in a way that people can connect with and enjoy. Anyway, I was just let down that the butchered the movie of my favorite book.

I loved the movie. I read the book a few years ago and was wondering how they would do the internal voices as most of the book was in Melanie/Wanda's thought conversations and memory revealing. I went with 3 people that did not read it first and one that did. Seems you probably enjoy it more if you read the book because you understand the story better, but the 3 that did not read it enjoyed it too. My son just didn't like that there wasn't a lot of action, he's 12 :) and wanted to see GI Joe.
Overall an entertaining break from the everyday movie. I have been recommending it to my friends! I would say GO

...like this movie, but when you have a certain level of expectation in terms of plot and character depth you'll only be disappointed with the Twilitization of any sci-fi story. From the absolutely annoying human mind talking to the alien who possessed her body, to the huge holes in storyline, it just ended up being a photographic experience that would have best been seen in super-fast-forward.
