Not For Everyone. Great If You Like To Laugh. Uniquely Awful.

For most people, stifling laughter will be hard while watching this film. It's not a comedy though. Due to a most unique screenplay which uses voice over with actual dialog simultaneously while using the same character, frankly the effect is just plain comical in some places. So much so in fact that I witnessed at least three people leave the theater because they just couldn't stop laughing. I'll give the screenwriter credit for experimentation, that's for sure. The talent can only do what's on the page, so the end result really isn't their fault. Meyers has a rich imagination but the adaptation of this book is not deep or mildly enticing in this format. All-in-all this isn't a terrible movie, just not one that will appeal first, to any male audience (including the gay males) and second, to anyone whose funny bone is easily activated by debatably cheesy dialog over action over voice over dialog....on and on and on. See it though if for no other reason than its unique awfulness.

I personally liked this a lot

I liked this movie. I had a little bit of an idea about what it was gonna be about or like before i went to see it. I thought things started slow and kinda dragged along for the first little bit. Once I feel it picked up & I could see things coming tougher it became fun to watch. Not a scary alien movie, not a crazy action movie, just a good story movie that kinda go's along. I liked the acting and how everything was kinda matrix like and calm except a few parts. Seeing Saoirse Ronan in a lead role other than Hanna. Cant wait to see her in more movies. I liked the score, the settings, the vibe, the feeling, the message, & the coolness of the movie. I recommend it but, it's not gonna be for everyone. I hope you who see it enjoy it like i did.

No words.

I have no words for how horrifically bad this movie was. It had absolutely nothing to do with the book, the acting was terrible, the plot was out of order, and there were vital scenes missing. There were only two good scenes I can remember that were just like the book: the dead soul/ Wanda screaming scene and the "MONTHS LATER" epilogue. Don't waste your time. If you do, at least you'll get a good laugh.

A smart movie but a good intense one with twists

No loudly bracket of machinegun bullets firing. No massive artillery barrages to harbor "Shock and Awe" to the enemy. No they sneak in and take your bodies over. The planet well ....it is not as loud as it was. If you want a movie where the plot twists have young love on the various rocks, aliens inhabiting and using your body. It turns out that humans are a decided problem. This is a movie worth the cost.

I really enjoyed seeing this movie! It was exciting and funny how this creature was trying to understand the human's life. Very interesting home the humans created for themselves to hide from the creatures. I am glad the movie ended with a happy ending for everyone!!! Stephanie Myers did a great job creating the story to this movie. The desert scenery was beautiful. Not a movie for under 12 because of the romance and the conflict between the two species. A must see for those who love action with a twist of romance and for the possibilities of another unknown species coexisiting with humans.
