Good Stuff

Well filmed and paced.....lighter content that LOTR's which makes sense if you read the books. Got to love the Dragon. One of many bad guys haunting the group. Great to have two more movies to look forward too!

HFR takes a bit of getting used to, but this movie is a great adult adaption of what is in essence a children's book. Go for it!

Critics be damned

There are those who say that if you enjoy movies like this, then you can't appreciate art. Well, I've seen your so-called modern art masterpieces, and they look like something I wiped off my rear last time I was in the john. This film encompasses an epic story with high visual appeal, and the vast majority of those who go to see it know what they're in for anyway. I know the story, and I can see where the producers and director veer from it, and I don't care. Amazingly well executed. The high frame rate is a little odd at first, but you get used to it and it works. Recommended by me, who is not a film critic, and I have seen some of the best movies ever made. But don't take my word for it, make up your own mind.

Better than LOTR

I struggled with the LOTR trilogy. I found them slow and fairly uninteresting (don't lynch me!) but the Hobbit was amazing. The pacing was fantastic, and the acting was AMAZING. It was worth the 20$ and standing in line outside for an hour and a half. If you enjoy fantasy and fun characters, check it out.

Story not for 3 movies

Despite it has some good moments, I think this story is not worth to make 3 movies for it, the whole story should have been ended with this movie; this fact makes this one to have some unnecessary scenes. Also, the HFR sometimes made the close ups so detailed that the magic is somehow lost, the makeup is very evident. Finally, the story is not as catching as I would have imagined.
