I had no idea what a difference the HFR 3D would make. It was the most visually stunning movie I've ever seen, and of course that it was The Hobbit, was perfection! The movie was amazing, and lived up and surpassed expectations. I would not see this one any other way than the HRF 3D, it was like being right there in the movie the whole time. Awesome!!! We will definitely be seeing this one again!

Fantastic Start...

Even though The Hobbit was my least of all favorite books including the Lord of the Rings, I still loved it. The movie held it's place where it belonged... still not quite as good as LotR, but still amazing!

Great Movie!

Saw it in 3D HFR and was blown away with the clarity. There are lots of movies out there that we all complain about not being true to the book, this one was excruciatingly filled with detail from the book. Although they did take some artistic license with the plot, I thought it flowed well and was surprised how quick the time flew. It did leave me with the same feeling I had after the first LOTR, wishing they had gone a bit farther but with anticipation for the next in the trilogy.

Liking this movie was easier because I've read 'The Hobbit' and the 'Lord of the Rings' books. I really liked all the goblin and orc and warg killing, but I couldn't enjoy some scenes as much because they contained more campy humor than I found appropriate and/or had a deus ex machina feel, where things work out just so to save the group at the last minute. This wouldn't be a problem for me if it was limited to one or two instances, but a majority of the adventure part of the film is just one deus ex machina moment after the next. Even though the movie suffered from that, I still liked it quite a bit. Bottom line: you'll probably enjoy this movie if you're a fan of fantasy or the Lord of the Rings. Everyone else, you may be better off going to see Lincoln or some other serious movie.

I don't understand all the hate towards the HFR technology. I thought it looked amazing and was nice to see a new format. I would very much like to see more action movies filmed in this format.
