IMAX-3D is always great. The Hobbit is visually beautiful, often funny with many thrilling and exciting sences. If you liked The Lord of the Rings series you will ike The Hobbit. All the actors from the LOTR have returned to the Hobbit making it easy to know the characters. Fun and engaging from beginning to end witj an ending leaving you wanting to see part 2. Don't miss it at the IMAX its a spectical worthy of the format.

The singing was a little weird and not repeated (which begs the question of why it was there at all). I also can't figure out why this is going to take 3 movies to get through.

Great experience. But as always it wasn't the book. Although Peter did the best for what he had to work with(time&money). The scenery was awesome, the characters familiar and the storyline was fastpaced. Now I just have to stay alive another year and a half to see the end(July2014)

The eternal movie

The visuals are superb, the action fast and without breaks between the idilic beginning and the final, somewhat silly, set-up for the sequel. You have seen the like (and perhaps better done) in several other movies recently. This flick is for you if you have the three hours and don't expect anything novel. If you do go to see it, by all means see the IMAX 3-D version with its great sound and vast screen. IMAX is a very special process that makes any movie exciting and special. New Zealand, in IMAX, is a magical place, the perfect setting for Hobbits and other imagined folk good and evil. ...............B.F..............

HOBBIT

Altogether, the Hobbit was a good movie. Though, I did have some gripes on it. To start, I didn't like the sequence with the Brown Wizard. It seemed out of of place and cartoony compared to the rest of the movie. Also, alot of things didn't match the book. For instance, Smaug was red in the book not blue from the little bit he was shown. Also, the Necromancer only had a breif mention in the book and it didn't have a big part like it did in the movie. In addition, Azog was already dead in the book but, in the movie he was alive trying to kill Thorin. This changed the entire direction of the book. I could go on but instead I will wrap this up. The Hobbit was entertaining to anyone who hasn't read the book but to someone who has, they may not enjoy it as much. I give this movie 9 out of 10
