Forget the whiners, this rocks!

I hear lots of complaints about time and other dumb things. Bottom line is the movie is entertaining, it's well done, and I simply can't wait for the next one to come out!!! I loved it and despite the long play time, it went very quickly. So much so that the ending really snuck up on you. I plan on going again and I dont' watch movies at the theatres but a few times a year.

Loved The Hobbit! When you've read a book that you so enjoy you think "No, it can't be made into a film." But Peter Jackson comes through once again. Although I read the book 40+ years ago, the story was told so well in the film that I began to remember wonderful minute details -- and remembered what a great writer Tolkien was.

Wonderful movie and fantastic in 3D and IMAX

The extra paid for the IMAX 3D experience was definitely worth it. No cheap flying stuff at you tricks, just being in there and enjoying the whole experience. It is long at almost 3 hrs with about 10 minutes of previews and the credits but the music at the end during the credits is something to stay for. Sometimes you have to go on an adventure just for the sake of the adventure (and something to tell the grandchildren). ;)

IMAX 3D is well-worth the extra money. Amazing Hobbit movie experience: fantastic NZ vistas combined with storytelling at its finest and the raw energy of elvish combat. Treat yourself to a grown-up, visual hot fudge sundae and go see this movie.

Its very good, not great.

As an avid book reader, the departure from the storyline in places and picking up the appendices to write the script seemed megalomaniacal, but it works. My biggest complaint was the nauseating 3D effects, which I will surely NOT be viewing in the future. Go, but see it in regular theaters.
