    Hobbit

    I was very disapointed with Peter Jackson this time around. Should have just done one movie and stuck to the book, not add all that extra stuff that wasn't even in the book. I predict, no awards for Jackson this time around.

    Wish it had been HFR

    The movie itself was amazing. Just wish the Regal Cinema here had been showing it's IMAX version in HFR. The normal screens are too small to justify paying for, and those paying top dollar for IMAX are the most likely to want the new technology.

    Why I liked the "Hobbit"

    I first must admit I have been a JRR Tolkien fan since I read the hobbit when I was ten (I'm 50 now) While a movie can never capture or match the essence and words of the author or the imagination of the reader, I found the move very enjoyable and captured the sense of adventure, joy and action of the book. I found that it retained some of the humor and depth of the book. For some it may seem to start out slowly but I enjoyed how it built some backstory to some of the characters.

    I think the PG13 rating is deserved as the fight scenes can be overwhelming as in the Lord of The Rings trilogy however it does not contain the gore that you find overwhelmingly some action films today. However such action is part of the essence of the book as the group journey's to their goal. If you like 3D, it is a must see in that format.

    I'm looking forward to the sequel and completion of the "Journey" as Bilbo has many advenures yet to come.......
