I hear lots of complaints about time and other dumb things.
Bottom line is the movie is entertaining, it's well done, and I simply can't wait for the next one to come out!!!
I loved it and despite the long play time, it went very quickly. So much so that the ending really snuck up on you.
I plan on going again and I dont' watch movies at the theatres but a few times a year.

Loved The Hobbit! When you've read a book that you so enjoy you think "No, it can't be made into a film." But Peter Jackson comes through once again. Although I read the book 40+ years ago, the story was told so well in the film that I began to remember wonderful minute details -- and remembered what a great writer Tolkien was.

The extra paid for the IMAX 3D experience was definitely worth it. No cheap flying stuff at you tricks, just being in there and enjoying the whole experience. It is long at almost 3 hrs with about 10 minutes of previews and the credits but the music at the end during the credits is something to stay for. Sometimes you have to go on an adventure just for the sake of the adventure (and something to tell the grandchildren). ;)

This was just as good as the LOTR trilogy if not better. The Bilbo character had a "personality", which was missing in the Frodo character from The LOTR. The dwarves were very entertaining and made you want to pull up a chair and sing along with them.

There's almost too much to process here, but I'll cut to the chase: I was concerned about the length, the high frame rate, the splitting of the story into three parts, the dwarves whom I at first thought looked a bit goofy. Well, I am here to say that on all fronts my concerns were not only unwarranted, but have all but been forgot. I am not a particularly huge fan of 3D, but I enjoyed Avatar's 3D and was willing to give Jackson a shot here as well. I'm glad I did. What a movie! Where some people complain about the length and have stated the movie takes too long to get going, I relished every moment of the Bag-End scenes. The Dwarves are fantastic, and the whole thrill of the adventure is alive and well.
I can't wait to see it again. Congratulations to Peter Jackson for bringing us back in such a wonderful way.
