Enjoyable, interesting; worth seeing

I echo much of what others have said. Great performances and visuals. Great story; the movie was too long. I'd say 2 hours and 25 minutes instead of 2 hours and 49 would have done the trick. If you liked LOTR you must see this. It is just too long.

Acting is good, cinematography good, effects good but the story and dialogue are mediocre at best. Nowhere near the quality of Lord of the Rings. I was definitely disappointed and bored. They were trying too hard and should have made one Great movie instead of 3 movies to make money. All action and no quality.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey

the pace varied, the characters had minutes to expose their motivations, the development scenes mostly worked well. For a long movie, I did not notice the time. And I have read the original book. Very enjoyable. Must Go. David R.

Without giving away the details, the movie is incredibly long and the ending just plain sucked. For all the hype, i was definitely disappointed. To its credit, it does have some very beautiful scenes and some very funny moments.

Better than Expected

I was not especially interested in seeing this film. However, I was really pleasantly surprised. Yes, we whiz through dozens of exciting adventure, one after another; excellent graphics and creativity, but a tendency to get tedious after almost 3 hours. What saves this movie, however, is that the story revolves around wonderful characters who are lovingly portrayed, and their growing connection to each other. And yes, the battles whiz by, you get the impression, but do not suffer through excessive graphic violence.
