    Too confusing.

    The light heartedness of the film just seemed too far a stark contrast with the more dramatic elements of the film. The Goblin King moment in particular stands out to me. I do understand The Hobbit was a child's book, just feel the film should've been taken in one direction or another rather trying to balance both.
