The Hobbit

This is exactly what I wanted to see when they turned The Hobbit into a movie -- I didn't know it at the time, but I know it now. The casting was perfect. I had no problem at all with the inserted scenes -- it gave me more of Middle-Earth and I could have sat there for another hour and not minded.

Loved The Hobbit

I loved this first part of The Hobbit. As a fan of Tolkien and his books, I was worried about what would and would not be included in the films. While there were changes from the book, they were for the most part small, and they did not greatly affect my overall opinion of the film. I liked that they went into more detail concerning the necromancer, making that an additional part of the story line instead of just a side note like it is in the book. I simply cannot express enough how perfect I think Martin Freeman is for the role of Bilbo. I am a huge fan of him as an actor and was so pleased with his performance. The riddle game was marvelous as well, everyone in the theater I went to was in fits of laughter through the whole thing. Loved it. One thing that bothered me a little was some of the CG effects looked a bit more video game-y than the other Lord of the Rings movies, but again it did not bother me much. There were things I didn't like, but the movie is wonderful.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey

The film was good. Definitely a must see to continue your story line of the Tolkien Saga. However, I felt that some aspects of this film were lacking. Most specifically, all the enemies were CGI. I really thought this took away from the film after how the enemies were done in Lord of the Rings.

Not at all accurate. The moivie has too much motion and detail...not enough plot and depth development. Like the movie, "Return of the King," this 1st half installment had so much potential...but was left to the Spielberg/Indiana Jones visual effects team. I was waiting for Eewoks to pop out somewhere. JarJar Binks, why have you forsaken us? Azog never chased the dwarves into the forest. Bad, bad story line. Same with Radagast - he never encountered the Necromancer or the King of Angmar. A land sled pulled by jackalopes? Fer cryin' out loud. Read the books and let your imagination take it from there. Leave the special effects to Star Wars and Indiana Jones.

Seriously... How can a movie that is so long have so little happen in it??? The ONLY good thing about this movie was the brilliant Martin Freeman. This movie was a total bore and I'm not interested in the remaining "chapters". Also - how many helicopter shots of people walking across New Zealand do we need?????? Zzzzzz
