The LOTR films were to right, correct tone and feel.
The Hobbit should have been much lighter in feel.
It felt like the Hobbit is just a continuation of LOTR, to the point that it felt like they used the same shots for the film.
To long and to dark for what it should have been.

Action packed and was overall more humor-driven then LOTRs. Some very gruesome creatures throughout. If you are a LOTR fan, then this is, of course, a must see.

Ok, I'm a FAN and perhaps thats why I loved this movie. The part that all the "critics" hated, the first 30 minutes, was PERFECT. It was obviously made for FANS and THANK YOU PJ, you did it right. From the first "Good Day" scene to the talking Trolls, the parts that stayed true to the books were AMAZING. The parts PJ added or borrowed were pretty good to, bravo! People who hate the first part of the movie dont get the book. The book has a quirky english humor to it that is very charming, and the movie pulled that off brilliantly. I died laughing that Ian Mckellan actually pulled off the GOLF joke. Its a pretty long winded JOKE, and he did it perfectly! The only sad part is how the critics are SO PREDICTABLE its sickening. They are bending over backwards to critisize this piece of work, dispite it being a far braver an adaptation then the LOTR. Come on, a scene with singing Goblins that actually works isn't creative, unique enough for you? Grow some courage!

I love the book The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien and I have since 1093, when I read it for the first of about five times. Now, if possible, I love it even more. Martin Freeman was the perfect choice to play Bilbo. The characters are perfectly realized, the scenery is stunning and the action is fantastic, so much so that I could not believe how quickly the film was over because I could barely look away for long enough to check-in on my phone and tell everyone how much I was enjoying it!
I was little surprised at first when it ended two-thirds of the way through the story, but now I am excited that I get to go back and see the end next year!

This was my first 3D film and I was blown away by the effects! Unfortunately, I was not equally blown away by the script. I found the film a bit ponderous at times. I also thought some of the devices a bit 21st century and not at all Middle Earthly. However, all in all, I enjoyed this welcome return to Middle Earth.
