I am a big Tolkien fan. I have read all of the Middle Earth books. I loved The Hobbit, but the movie was boring. I was wondering how they would make one book into three movies. They added fluff. First, there were excruciatingly long fight scenes. Second, they walked and walked and walked; we watched them do nothing but travel for a large portion of the movie. Third, non-book story elements were added to make it longer, they contributed nothing to the plot line. The cinematography was beautiful, but not any better or different than in the trilogy movies. In short, wait for video. It's worth a $1.20 at Redbox.

I was really excited to see this movie after reading the book. What a major let down... so DISAPPOINTING. I wanted to leave halfway through the film but my boyfriend wanted to watch the rest since we paid for it. Throughout the whole movie we were both shaking our heads. I understand that movies don't follow the book completely but most of them leave out information, not make things up. They completely changed how every event was suppose to happen. The only thing I liked was the HFR... looks really cool. I will NOT see the other 2 movies and if you're a true fan of the book you wouldn't either.

This movie is a little different than the Lord of the rings,i think. In the beginning is so slow and boring, when it starts to pick up it does get a little better. The men could be a little bit more handsome. The lord of the rings men were handsome. The actors are good and the effects are great and the scenery is excellent. I would have to watch this movie again just to watch some parts i might not have picked up on.

Not at all accurate. The moivie has too much motion and detail...not enough plot and depth development. Like the movie, "Return of the King," this 1st half installment had so much potential...but was left to the Spielberg/Indiana Jones visual effects team. I was waiting for Eewoks to pop out somewhere. JarJar Binks, why have you forsaken us? Azog never chased the dwarves into the forest. Bad, bad story line. Same with Radagast - he never encountered the Necromancer or the King of Angmar. A land sled pulled by jackalopes? Fer cryin' out loud.
Read the books and let your imagination take it from there. Leave the special effects to Star Wars and Indiana Jones.

The Hobbit was amazing. As a fan of both The Lord of the Rings movies and The Hobbit the book, I couldn't be happier with the movie.
