THE HOBBIT IS PURE MAGIC

We just saw The Hobbit - based on one of my all-time favorite books. Reviews of The Hobbit criticized the 48fr version and commented that the show was a bit slow and dull due to the fact that they are making 3 movies out of one book. With Lord of the Rings they made 3 movies out of 3 large books. I enjoyed the LOTR movies but felt that they were all about battles but not about the wonderful poetry and mysticism in the books. However, in my humble opinion - by telling the story of one book in 3 movies, Peter Jackson has given himself the screen time to bring in the poetry and mysticism of the book in a way that never happened in the LOTR movies. I was very surprised to find that I loved The Hobbit from first frame to last. We saw Lincoln a few days ago and as much as I love that movie - I love The Hobbit even more. I've got to back to hear Thorin sing "The Lonely Mountain Song" one more time. And it will be the IMAX version.

I was really excited to see this movie after reading the book. What a major let down... so DISAPPOINTING. I wanted to leave halfway through the film but my boyfriend wanted to watch the rest since we paid for it. Throughout the whole movie we were both shaking our heads. I understand that movies don't follow the book completely but most of them leave out information, not make things up. They completely changed how every event was suppose to happen. The only thing I liked was the HFR... looks really cool. I will NOT see the other 2 movies and if you're a true fan of the book you wouldn't either.

Not like Lord of the rings

This movie is a little different than the Lord of the rings,i think. In the beginning is so slow and boring, when it starts to pick up it does get a little better. The men could be a little bit more handsome. The lord of the rings men were handsome. The actors are good and the effects are great and the scenery is excellent. I would have to watch this movie again just to watch some parts i might not have picked up on.

A disappointing movie in comparison to the Lord of the Rings

When you look at this movie in comparison to LotR, it's a let-down. The quest isn't nearly as epic. The protagonists never seem to be in much danger. Without going into spoilers, the fellowship of the ring endured casualties that made the story more gripping because it reflected the gravity of the danger. These guys shrug off stuff that would have killed the whole fellowship outright.

The Hobbit was amazing. As a fan of both The Lord of the Rings movies and The Hobbit the book, I couldn't be happier with the movie.
