Enjoyed the movie. Excited to see some returning characters especially Gandalf. Acting was great. Was surprised by some of the humorous additions but feel it didn't take away too much from the film. Definitely recommend for others to see.

Too long and too many monsters

The Hobbit was awful. There were so many monsters and so many battles that I thought I was watching transformers. It was hardly creative or beautiful.

If you're going to see it in 3D, make sure you see it in HFR 3D. If you can't see it in HFR 3D, stick with 2D. There's too much action and incredible landscape shots to see it in 3D at 24 fps. Also, don't expect The Hobbit to be as epic as The Return of the King. It's much more like The Fellowship of the Ring was for the first hour of it's run time, but it's also very different from The Lord of the Rings trilogy. So try to keep an open mind. Great movie! :D

Loved The Hobbit

I loved this first part of The Hobbit. As a fan of Tolkien and his books, I was worried about what would and would not be included in the films. While there were changes from the book, they were for the most part small, and they did not greatly affect my overall opinion of the film. I liked that they went into more detail concerning the necromancer, making that an additional part of the story line instead of just a side note like it is in the book. I simply cannot express enough how perfect I think Martin Freeman is for the role of Bilbo. I am a huge fan of him as an actor and was so pleased with his performance. The riddle game was marvelous as well, everyone in the theater I went to was in fits of laughter through the whole thing. Loved it. One thing that bothered me a little was some of the CG effects looked a bit more video game-y than the other Lord of the Rings movies, but again it did not bother me much. There were things I didn't like, but the movie is wonderful.

Really surprised! I did not like it. I have been a fan of the books for 20 years. LOVED all 3 of the other movies. Too Long, too much fighting, not enough events from the story. Very let down. Will not buy it when released. Had my ticket 2 months in advance and ask for 1/2 day off. What a bummer.
