Bilbo is a very complex character who is a lovable goof but also trying to deal with the emotions and feelings weighing on him to help and do what is right. He just wants to help any way he can. This is why I love Bilbo.

Bilbo is an interesting character because, while initially hesitant and the pinnacle of "being a Hobbit", he rises to the occasion and shows off his wit and courage several times throughout the novel, as well as the forthcoming movies.

Bilbo Baggins is an incredibly interesting character because he gives us a glimpse of the best and worst of ourselves: He bubbles with with integrity, humor, wit, and courage when it's most needed; yet his vulnerability, selfishness and fear surface occasionally. Bilbo's character allows us a chance to see how we might fit among other-worldly characters like elves, orcs, wizards and dwarves.

What is so interesting about Bilbo is that despite his "respectable" way of living, he drops everything in a moment's notice, and becomes this adventurous, witty character, amazing many he comes across.

I adore Bilbo because he overcomes so much - fear, loneliness aching longing for his home - because he is loyal and ultimately the bravest of them all.

Bilbo is the everyman (everyhobbit?) that has extreme circumstances thrown upon him and his actions in the face of the unknown make him an interesting character. He has no formal training or much knowledge of things outside The Shire, but uses his own uncommon traits to survive.
