THE HEIRESS = Grade A+ Melodramatic Soaper

Olivia De Havilland was never better than she was here in this Oscar worthy as well as winning performance as Kathryn Sloper - the plain Jane daughter of rich, insensitive father ( the commanding Ralph Richardson ) who is disinheireted after falling for a handsome schemer ( the phenomenal Montgomery Clift ). The high drama of the famed Henry James novel WASHINTON SQUARE was given magnificent melodramatic treatment for the stage version called THE HEIRESS and subsequently into this fine Wiliam Wyler-directed film. Excellent on all levels! DON'T LET THIS ONE SLIP BY!
