    THE AMAZING PAUL GIAMATTI

THE HAWK IS DYING is the kind of movie movies used to be. It's literature. It's the kind of film that was made in the glorious 70's/the 1970's being a daring and exciting time for American movies. A drama concerning a man with a brittle family unit that he is attempting to hold together- the film constantly (and successfully) teeters between steady drama and high tragedy. The performances are amazing (especially Giamatti- arguably the greatest film actor alive next to Sean Penn) and the story itself is something you'd read in a short novel when you're very young- and remember your whole life (I think the film was based on a novel?). Giamatti's character is obsessed (to say the least) with training a hawk. The hawk is imperative to the film because it simply is Giamatti's soul. This movie isn't for everybody- but for my money- it's near perfect.

take the journey with george, its worth it

Yes if you are willing to truly dive into the film as a journey for yourself through the main character, then it pays off. Great film story telling, great acting, and a departure from the ironic, witty, shameless stuff that has filled our media world Keep it going Julian Goldberger.

    The Hawk is Dying

Probably not for everyone, but I enjoyed it thoroughly. Quiet, dark, intense, slow-moving, but gripping and very real, it is a glimpse into the life and mind of quite an intriguing protagonist. Very well-made, wonderful acting, unexpected plot twists, amazing cinematography, and beautiful birds. Thank you so much for making films like these!
