Started Out Good Ended Bad
I'm a fan of your work... and you let a fan down. Had the right idea, story could've been good, but you missed it big time this time. The scenes didn't pull you in enough- just not engaging... and I like all the actors in this movie but they didn't work in these roles... and the payoff was a let down this time around. Dust yourself off and do it like you've done it in the past.
Yes, the acting was a little scrappy and the plot is a little confusing and maybe a little overdone, but a bigger part of the movie was interesting. There were parts in the theatre that made me a little startled. Such as the lions and the lawnmower. It at least kept my attention. The message may not be clear to everyone, but at least M. Night tried.
NOTHING MUCH HAPPENED... This was a disappointment. I am ashamed of you M. Night Shyamalan.Everything felt awkward and ingenuous... the acting, the characters, the plot progression -- it was choppy and sloppy, which we all know makes a fun fruit salad -- but not much else. If you are a Shyamalan fan you'll probably see this movie at some point, and maybe you'll even like it... but I didn't. I spent 80% of the film angry at the characters' silly behavior and the poorly-conceived dialogue, then gave up on the ending. Why oh why did you try to be a weirdly twisted (in a bad way) environmentalist all of a sudden, and one with a terribly irony-meter to boot?!? An all-around failure in my book.
Night is one of my favorite directors. He's always kept me on the edge of me seat in all the movies I 've see that he's directed. I really enjoy this flick and never get tired of it, cuz its SO TRUE!
