I don't see why the reviews were so bad....

I almost missed seeing this movie because the general opinion seemed so bad but I liked this movie. It was true to Baz Luhrmann's style and the style of the book. The 3-D looked great. It was fun. The acting was fine. Leo even looked less beat than he has recently. The music was a little weird but overall it was a solid, good movie. So glad I caught it in 3-D in theaters!

Some artistic liberties taken and it evolves over time, but overall it's one of those movies you will want to talk about afterwards. Outstanding performances by all actors and especially DiCaprio - Oscar material for sure.

I started getting into it and this was the first 3-D showing at our theater. The projector stoped right when it was getting good what a waste of an evening and $30.00

Seen this in 3D and enjoyed the detail that the movie gave with the 20's & 30's look. Beautiful hats and outfits that had my wife giddy in her seat. I loved the cars and the rustic looked it had at times. Good storyline and Leo Dicap didn't disappoint, and wasn't filled with foul language and nudity that allows anybody over 13 yrs old to sit thru. I give it 3 1/2 stars and proves to myself that I will see anything Leo does on film.

I Love the Baz Style

I just really enjoy the "Baz Style" which is bold and theatrical, and this movie continues that theme that was made famous with Moulin Rouge. However, this story is more somber so there is less opportunity for his flourish. Regardless the movie captures the essence of the book with the extremes of wealthy detached excess and desperate plight of the poor. Not my favorite Baz movie but definitely only worth seeing on a big screen with the sound way up.
