I'm a very recent fan of Leo after his amazing performance in Django. Baz, on the other hand, has had me on the line since Moulin Rouge. I was determined to go, and hopeful for favorable outcome.
Wham! This movie knocked my socks off. Visually, it was stunning and for lack of a better work, "scrumptious." The cast, costumes, music score, locations, cinematography were pure perfection and there's no way to fail when you have a classic as the foundation of your dialogue.
Even with the tragic ending, I left the movie feeling full. Mr. Luhrmann fed me well and left me feeling oh so satisfied.

Wonderful cinephotography! Beautiful costumes and setting. In 3-D it comes to life. Great acting and the director added his own touches with the modern music and angular scenes. Worth seeing!

The Great Gatsby 2013 film version is more concerned with the outer trappings of Gatsby's life, showing his lavish parties in glamorous, colorful 3D, than his inner life. That the film is a tragedy seems to have escaped the producers of the new version. Nevertheless, di Caprio never disappoints, but Mulligan portrays Daisy as smarter than she was in the book. The sound track is desirable, long after the flicker stops.

This was a LOT more fun than I expected. Leo is just the right age to play Gatsby (though Tobey Maguire seemed a little old for Nick). The real treat is Joel Edgerton as Tom Buchanan. What a performance. 3D isn't worth the extra money, but this is a really good telling of the tale.

this movie is something i can't describe-- yes it's because the story is just SO good but the movie as well is just really excellent. I have never read the great gatsby before so I didn't know what to expect. however, i had NO clue that the story of this book was as good as it is.
This is just a really DEEP and heartbreaking full of twists turns and situations story that really appeals to everyone's sense of dreaming and hopes and expectations in life. The movie was really great and depicted the 20's very well, the costumes, set and other aspects of it- minus the jay-z and beyonce music add-ins however, those weren't the worst but seemed a bit tacky. This is the kind of movie that once you're done with it, it leaves you contemplating the story, the depth and of course gatsby's life and the tragedy that came after. You definitely feel for gatsby and dicaprio did a really good job with the role and tobey maguire an even better job as nick. GREAT movie..must see!!
