The movie was awesome! I had read some reviews and was a little worried but I left feeling great ! We went with friends and later over appetizers we all talked about what we enjoyed and found it very stimulating what we all got from the movie. The music I thought was ok even though it was current music it fit the movie. I would totally recommend the movie. The acting was right on and enjoyable as well as all the beautiful scenes and parties. Deep movie where there was romance, intrigue, suspense and a lot more.

I thought this film was way over the top in glitz and glamor, and lost its soul in the process. Acting was excellent, but I was hoping that the editor would cut about a half hour off of the film. i would not recommend this film. Too much gore and very very loud to the point where I had to cover my ears.

There just wansn't a lot of passion or plot that kept you drawn in. It was stunning to see but I did keep wondering when it was going to be over and if there was a twist at the end to make it all worth it.

Disappointed

I have seen all the previous film versions of the book and I was disappointed after seeing the trailers on TV. I think Leonardo DeCaprio was miscast. Although he is incredibly handsome, I never felt the character with him. I wasn't thrilled with the music either. The costumes were fabulous as was the art direction. The dialogue was of course fantastic.

A good film but not Academy Award material

It started off slow but then one must remember that this was set in a time period where excess among the wealthy ruled the day. In many ways the film is a metaphor for today's society with its rampant air of entitlement and reckless abandon, not to mention complete disregard for those less fortunate. The real saving feature of this film is the cinematograghy and that doesn't usually hold me to the film as it progresses but this one did. If any aspect of this film is nominated for an Academy Award, it will probably be this. All in all, I would recommend going to see this film but keep your expectations in place for a 7.5 out of 10 work.
