A fairly good adaptation of the book. I believe DiCaprio did justice to the character of J Gatsby as did Toby McGuire as Carraway. Unfortunately, not enough interaction was shown between Jordan and Nick. The women playing the 2 female leads were beautiful!
The appearance of the film was intended to give the sense of being in the 1920's and it worked well. Costuming and set design was excellent.
Overall - a good movie.

I was really surprised at how mediocre this movie was - I'd say the only good part about it was Leo. The cast was just TERRIBLE. Toby Maguire needs to just stop acting...if I had to narrow down what made the movie fail it would be him. His voice is just TERRIBLE as the narrator, and his acting was just as bad. Carey Mulligan did a decent job at acting but she's just not attractive at all so both basically cancelled each other out. The movie was very long and could have been cut short or if they wanted to keep it that long it could have been filled with more meaningful scenes rather than scenes that are clearly put there just to take up more time. Only thing keeping this movie from getting an "oh no" is Leo, he really was good but not great.

I thought the beginning started out like a cartoon animated movie. The second half was better.
Tobey McGuire seemed wrong for his part. I kept thinking he was spiderman and he was going to show up in spidie attire..
For all the money they must have put into the movie I think they could have bought a better looking wig for Daisy.
My daughter brought me to the movie for Mothers Day, that was the best part.

I do not care what the critics said. I LOVED IT! It is 100% the most beautiful movie I have EVER seen. I have always been a fan of the director's work and "Romeo and Juliet" has always been my favorite movie, but I think this one almost tops it. Everything about it was perfect.

Wonderful acting, and the combination of classic music with contemporary was genius... the goal was to create a similar energy that the audience could relate to, and I believe it was accomplished! Visually stunning cinematography, and all while hardly straying from the book. Regardless of what critics or cynical moviegoers may say, this film was beautifully done and Gatsby fans (like myself) and first-timers (my husband) alike will be able to appreciate it, as long as they are prepared for a long film! Go see it!
