Another great epic movie

Despite being a little slow (I am usually impatience), it won't annoy you. It is a fairly authentic pace of the culture and the movie is beautifully done. The older (2) Ip Man movies (2008 and 2010) showed how he trained and became a master of his Kung Fu form (Wing Chun). This movie does not. The Kung Fu scenes in the older movies used very little, if any, special effect. The movements and the hits were more 'visible'. Almost like Donnie Yen (the Ip Man in the older movies) was a better Kung Fu artist. However, both Tony Leung and Zhang Ziyi perform superbly. This is not your modern high paced blow me up fighting movies. This is a modern Kung Fu based movie with good story line. Actually great for date movie going. Highly recommended.

The movie was ok from a story standpoint but I honestly think it is one of those that would of been better on Cable television as a special.

I really wanted to like this movie. Being a big fan the story of Ip Man and of Martial Arts in General, I had very high expectations for this awesome cast and the vision of this acclaimed director. While the overall look of the movie was very beautiful -- my satisfaction ends there. The story's plot line became tangled and jumpy. It starts strong but devolves into convoluted plot based around conflicts not even concerning the main character. For an action movie, it was extremely boring, probably due to the director's abuse of slow-motion. (Yes, I would go as far as to say "abuse"). The action scenes drag on at a slow pace, which is fine in key moments but not every single battle. Sometimes they would use slow-motion in an attempt to add drama as well, but it was overtly obvious and took me, as the audience, right out of the entire experience. I can not recommend this movie to my friends, family or you the reader

This is one of the best movies of the year. Cinematography is fantastic. The colors and the dress are astounding. My wife and I were rivited by the action. Definitely academy award material

A masterful movie, that tells an inspiring story. If you have difficulty reading subtitles, you may not enjoy this movie, because it is subtitled throughout. If that won't bother you, I highly recommend you see this movie.
