Why bother!

I found very few comedic moments and way, way too much violence. The plot was thin and all the murder, blood, guns, bats and pure meanness, overwhelming.

Mildly Entertaining Flick

This movie was a waste of a good cast. There was too much over-the-top violence without much redeeming humor or plot. OK if you have nothing else to do.

I will see anything with Michelle and Robert...and they were great.... The script was "meh" so the story was just ok. Sort of a waste on such a great cast.

Coulda/Shoulda Been Better

When there is an all star cast, and a top notch producer in Martin Scorcese, the bar is raised significantly and expectations are higher. Unfortunately, The Family did not meet these expectations. The story was not developed well at all and there were several dry areas in the film. All the punchlines were in the commercials, so there was nothing new. I went to see this movie based solely on the cast, but I was very disappointed.

It had its moments

Fine acting by the entire cast makes this worth the trip and some very funny moments are a plus. But more than a bit improbable story and events make it a bit of a bore. The ending, more than predictable, will leave the thoughtful viewer more than a little dissatisfied with the morality of the outcome. Many innocent people die in the effort to save "The Family." Not to mention to carnage inflicted of those unfortunate to come into contact with them.
