this one was so much more exciting than the first, however, cheesier, and more comical but still so fun!! Just check your brain at the door and have fun! Van Damme was bad, and Chuck Norris was...well the Lone Wolf! LOL SO FUN

OK, add Jackie Chan, Ong Bak, Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, Liam Neeson, Daniel Craig, Depp, Robert Downey, Jr., Jean Reno, Brad Pitt, (ala Inglorious Basterds) and fit Sam Elliot in there someplace and for the women Milla Jovovich, Angelina Jolie, Charlize Theron and Maggie Q with existing cast and you'd never have to make another action movie ever!
I think Stallone is weening us so we don't stroke out on too much action.
This might even have beaten the Robocop record for most people killed in a movie.
While this movie won't win any literary awards, it is worth the full admission to the ride.
Many of the actors may be over 50, but who else kicks butt better than this entourage?
Chuck Norris needs to come back and be given a few more lines. Though the line he did give one of the best E2 lines with:
Barney (Stallone): I heard you were bitten by a king cobra?
Booker (Norris): That's right. But after five days of excruciating pain... the cobra died... TOO FUNNY!

The attempted witty lines were not witty. The attempted one liners were not funny. The action was slow and too obviously scripted. Illogical jumps in conversation that didn't work with the character's personality in a forced effort to push some backstory explanation about the young soldier to create audience bond to this character; very unnatural feel to the scripted lead into his shared memory. Nice to see old action stars together, but this script was not a good vehicle.

I liked the first one better but this one made me laugh. The violence was over the top and very unrealistic, that's what made it so funny. My favorite line from the movie was "rest in pieces"

You will laugh and cheer for the Expendables. For those of us who remember the 80's and 90's and even early 2000's action films this is a walk down memory lane.
