Excellent Film, Excellent Features

The film is a horror classic, despite the director and screenwriter swearing up and down it's not intended to be. If you haven't seen it, it's out on Blu-Ray now, and should be viewed with a careful eye towards what horror conventions this movie created. The Behind-the-Scenes featurette, despite feeling a little like an extended trailer for the special features on the Blu-Ray, still covered a lot of ground. From actor interviews to director and screenwriter commentary to a revealing of all the big special effects, it was definitely worth the money. 5/5

The Exorcist Director's Cut is a must see for any fan of this classic. This was my first chance to see it in theaters and I'm couldn't be happier I took this opportunity. The movie and the behind the scenes documentary that precedes and follows, left me speechless and in awe. It is without a doubt one of the most powerful movies ever made, and a cinematic experiences that surely should not be missed.

An amazing film. I used to be very terrified to watch this film but my most recent viewing had me appreciating the depth and quality of the actors. This was a very realistic portrayal of how people would respond if something so horrific like "possession" were to happen to a family member. The performances were sincere and the gory moments were there to reinforce the ugliness of evil but they were not there to glorify gore for gore's sake like current films do (yes, I mean all the "Saw" films). I found myself taken in with the story of Father Karras, Chris MacNeil and Regan MacNeil. It was a powerful film and a testament to the beauty of 70's cinema. That era of movies has become one of my favorite periods. Excellent film which I'd recommend. Only sad part was that I learned that there was a special screening on Wednesday, the 29th which included a reunion with Linda Blair, the director, the writer and director of photography. Wish I would have been there!!!
