The Dark Knight Rises Movie Guide

Batman Bundle: WB Wanted Leo DiCaprio as The Riddler, MTV Movie Awards Footage, New Commercial & Unofficial Runtime

While we announced that tickets for The Dark Knight Rises will go on sale next Monday, there's a whole lot more of Gotham's dark knight to share.

First off is the revelation in Empire magazine via Batman News that Warner Bros. sought Leonardo DiCaprio to play The Riddler in Nolan's final film. Granted DiCaprio is a talented actor and will star as the lead villain in Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained later this year, but would anyone have bought him as The Riddler? Mind you, Nolan's Riddler would have been much darker and less comical than Joel Schmaucher's version, which featured Jim Carrey in the role.

Thinking back to 2008 as Batman fans basked in the greatness that was Heath Ledger's Oscar-winning performance, The Riddler had emerged as the Internet's #1 choice for the film's villain. Various actors were mentioned through the seemingly endless banter about TDKR's featured villain.

The article also mentions **mini-SPOILER alert** that The Joker would "not be addressed at all" in The Dark Knight Rises. Additionally, Catwoman will also never be called "Catwoman."

Switching gears, this past weekend saw that annual reason to continue banning under-18's right to vote, otherwise known as the MTV Movie Awards, on Sunday. As per usual, several films brought new footage and commercials during the broadcast, and while we'll have Bourne Legacy, Expendables 2 and all the others in our Daily Recap later today, Christopher Nolan treated everyone to some new Batman footage. Additionally, a new commercial arrived and you can check both of those out below:

Finally, now that you're sufficiently pumped, just how long will this movie be? AMC Theaters has posted a running time of 2 hours and 45 minutes, though the final cut may be slightly shorter. We're guessing somewhere in the 2-1/2 hour range as Nolan makes his final tweaks.

Great movie...it's not the prequel that everybody is talking about, as there will be at least another installment prior to the Nostromo's visit or maybe even two...There was this feeling of deja vu on the current ship the doors and layout were eerily similar to the Nostromo.

The longer the running time the better, especially when you put in 2 villains with the story not to mention the ending to the trilogy. Hell, make it 3 and a half hours and we'll be even happier!

Great cover/feature of Christian Bale/Batman-Bruce Wayne & Ann Hathaway/Catwoman on the EMPIRE magazine: it sizzles!!! Like the photo of Mr. Bale above, too...'lookiing quite serious as Bruce Wayne aka The Dark Knight/BATMAN. Can't wait for the Epic The DARK KNIGHT Rises to hit the big screen and don't mind at all for it's 2 hrs & 45 minutes time slot. Must bring some klynexx for this one for it's gonna be a tearjerker...'Bruce/Batman is gonna need some serious help that's not fair he has to take on so many villians.

Batman will be defeated and have his back broken by Bane. Spoiler Alert. If you know your Batman comics you know that Bane breaks Batman's back and Batman has to hire someone to take his slot but when that substitute Batman starts killing bad guys instead of arresting him Rhas Al Ghul says that magical chant of his to magically heal the paralyzed Batman (and Al Ghul has been spotted on the set of the 3rd Batman film and that chant you hear in the trailers for Dark Knight Rises is Al Ghul's chant, you but 2 and 2 together you then know how it'll all end).

I actually wouldn't mind if it was 2 hours 45 minutes. The Dark Knight didn't even feel like 2 and half hours

Luckily for us that's exactly how long it's going to be according to an article that came out just today.
