The Dark Knight Rises Movie Guide

First Look: Anne Hathaway as Catwoman in 'The Dark Knight Rises'

By: Erik Davis on August 5, 2011 at 9:41AM Comments (42)

Right off the bat it's a very different look for Catwoman than we've seen in the past, as this first official image of Anne Hathaway from The Dark Knight Rises shows us a character in all black with some sort of special black goggles on instead of that iconic cat mask. She's also riding around on what looks to be the Bat-cycle, inside Bruce Wayne's little compound, so maybe she acts as his sidekick for some of the movie, or perhaps his lover with the inside scoop.

We also don't know if this is her full get-up as Catwoman in the film. Sources have claimed that her Catwoman outfit would be more functional and less S&M-like this time around, which would make sense for the Nolan-verse. And what's up with those goggles? What sort of advantage do those give her? Is that a tool from Catwoman's mythology, or were those created specifically for this film.

Sound off below on what you think of Anne Hathaway's Catwoman look.

i think she sucks as an actress but i trust Nolan. 'nuff said really. and i'm sure this is NOT her full get up. come on guys, they are still shooting. they're not going release something like that to us just yet. i bet her goggles in this picture are a prototype that she later integrates into a mask/helmet. and she's a thief. what if she stole the bat pod?

Not excited by this at all and I am a Catwoman fan. Pfeiffer set the bar very high. Here we have an unrecognizable pony-tailed princess on Batman's bike who I wouldn't know is Catwoman by the photo alone. Nolan and Hathaway have to do better than this.

No this is honestly terrible first off anne hatheway has no reason being catwoman, secondly where is the whip and the googles look horrible is she supposed to be a female riddick or something honestly she is supposed to look like a cat, first hale berry ruins catwoman now this. I refuse to ever see this movie I wouldn't even watch it if someone paid me 1 trillion dollars a month for the rest of my life.

Will you relax? The article says that this may not be the full Catwoman outfit. Not to mention the fill is still in production, so there could be a photo where she is wearing the whip or the cat ears. Finally, this is Nolan we are talking about. Out of everyone who has ever done a Batman movie, he is the one person who has done Batman justice. He must have saw something in Anne Hathaway that made him believe that she could play Catwoman. Be patient and give her a chance.

Interesting to say the least. Nolan's visions for Bane and Catwoman are different than what I was expecting. What I'm intrigued to see is the psychological profiles behind them. Nolan took the Joker to new heights by making him a modern-day psychotic anarchist and allowed Heath Ledger to channel that profile. It will be fascinating to see what madness and complexity with an infusion of reality Nolan will bring to Bane and Catwoman and how Tom Hardy and Anne Hathaway will respond to Nolan's idea of these characters.

i think catwoman is going to have to look more like a "cat woman" in the same way batman had to look like a "bat man if she's gonna be catwoman...i mean otherwise yeah she just looks like a normal woman riding the bat-cycle. i'm glad to see that return, speaking of which. however as successfully realistic as the nolan-verse batman has been, i hope catwoman really gets something more going for her that fits her character more.

My guess is she's not a "side kick". I'm certain she stole that bike from Bruce after he quit being Batman.

She doesn't really fit the part in my opinion. Goregous, no doubt but lacks the sex appeal of a Halle Berry for example.

I completey agree. Thats the first thing I thought. Anne Hathaway just doesnt have those sexy "cat eyes" like Michelle Pfeiffer(in my opinion was THE BEST catwoman ever did an amazing job). I knoww its a lil out there but what about Emma Stone? She's got some sexy cat eyes, but dont know if she could pull off the serious/tough role. She has the perfect look for catwoman.

Doesn't really look like a catwoman, however she does look bad ass! Excited for the film. Kind of worried that there will be too many unecessary things involved (like Transformers 2). I do have faith in Nolan though. Hopefully Anne can surpass the bar that's been set by the previous 2 films.

I doubt that Nolan will go overboard with this movie. His cinematographer assured that the script that Nolan co-wrote will make the trilogy perfect and the story behind this movie is phenomenal. We should know more soon.
